I already wrote about how click tracking is very important in web analytics in the first part of this article Tracking Clicks on Site Elements with Google Tag Manager: An Advanced Guide (If you haven’t read it yet, be sure to do so). But even more important is tracking clicks on links. After all, a user clicking on a link can go from your site to another, and you lose your visitor. Or by clicking on a phone number or email can contact you. The second of course is much nicer)

Such action, of course, should not be allowed to flow. They need to be tracked and analyzed. If you have already read the previous article, you know that tracking clicks on links can be done with two types of triggers: All Clicks and Just Links. We learned about the first one above, so let’s look at the second one in detail today.

Just Links Trigger in Google Tag Manager

There are only three settings to set up:

  • Wait for Tags. This setting allows you to set an extra time for the activation of the tags associated with the click. In this case, the link will be delayed for the time specified in the appropriate field or on the activation of the required tags.
  • Check Validation. Allows you to activate tags only when the link is successfully clicked. If not checked tags will be triggered at any click on the link. Note: if your code on the site uses event.preventDefault() command, you need to uncheck this option or the listener will not be triggered.
  • The Enable this trigger when all of these conditions are true only appears when the Wait for Tags option is activated. It allows you to activate the trigger only when certain conditions are met. It should not be confused with This trigger fires on (Trigger activation conditions). If you want the trigger to be triggered on all pages, use the regular expression .*.

In practice, you will often omit the Expect tags and Error-checking settings if they are not necessary. The basic conditions are set in the Trigger Activation Conditions section.

Now that you have the basic parameters of the Just Links Trigger, let’s take a look at some examples.

Tracking clicks on outbound links with Google Tag Manager

One of the main goals in marketing is not to lose your customers and visitors. But creating a functional and useful site that doesn’t have a single outgoing link is almost impossible. But to track which links users follow most often – it’s quite realistic. Setting is very simple. The only thing you need to know is that information about clicked links is stored in the Click URL variable. All outgoing links are links that do not contain your domain name.

Tracking clicks on outbound links with Google Tag Manager

Use a standard event tag to send this and other events to Google Analytics.

Tracking clicks by phone number using Google Tag Manager

Another example of using the Link Only Trigger – tracking clicks by phone number. Particularly useful for sites without call tracking. You may also be interested in phone number substitution for various sources with the help of Google Tag Manager.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated about working with the link trigger and transmitting click events data. For the most part, the algorithm is as follows:

  • Determine which link is clicked and which you want to track;
  • We create a trigger of type “Links Only”;
  • Specify the condition with the Click URL variable;
  • Create a tag to send the data to Google Analytics.

If you have any other ideas for using the Links Only Trigger, post them in the comments.

How link tracking affects email deliverability https://www.link-checker-pro.com/comtense/ Thu, 04 Feb 2021 10:31:09 +0000 https://www.link-checker-pro.com/?p=62 Tracking click-throughs is a very useful feature when it comes to analyzing the effectiveness of your trigger emails.

Tracking click-throughs is a very useful feature when it comes to analyzing the effectiveness of your trigger emails. After all, the click-through-rate (CTR) is the only way to understand whether the email you’ve written is driving conversions.

Nevertheless, it’s not the click-through rate that is of paramount importance for a successful mailing, but the deliverability of the emails. And it can be affected by any little thing, including tracking click-through rates. Keeping this in mind, we gave you complete freedom in this matter: to follow up or not – it’s up to you. But first, let’s understand why link tracking can have a negative impact on deliverability.

How links are tracked

To track transitions, the tracking service wraps the original link with its own links, thus changing it. When the recipient clicks on the link, they are redirected to a site that acts as an internet gateway, and only then to where your link led. For the recipient such a substitution remains unnoticeable, because it does not affect the speed, and the page address changes to the one you provided in a matter of seconds. This fast redirection is enough for the system to trace the link.

Types of links in emails

There are two types of links in emails:

  • direct link,
  • Anchor link.

You can track jumps in both cases. But direct links are still best avoided. And here’s why.
When link tracking has a negative impact on deliverability

This is a trick a lot of spammers and scammers pull: insert a link that leads to the wrong place.

Imagine if you received an email with a link, but clicking on it takes you to a site asking for a donation. To avoid frustrating users and to protect them from scammers, mailers and spam filters keep a close eye on the links in emails. They protect users by filtering emails and sending emails with suspicious links to the spam folder.

How do you know if link clicks are being monitored?

Hover your cursor over a link in the email and look in the lower left corner of your browser. If the link that appears there is identical to the one in the email, journeys through it will not be monitored. If it’s not the same link, the clicks will be tracked.

How you can track link clicks so that they don’t decrease deliverability

The answer is anchor links. To be aware of link conversions and not sacrifice the deliverability figures, attach the link to the text. That way there will be no explicit links in the body of the email, but just text that leads to the site of your choice.

This will help bypass filters, and the deliverability of the newsletter will either not suffer at all or only slightly.

Every Linkbuilder has at least once thought about finding a backlink monitoring tool. And it is not easy to find an adequate program or online tool to track links.

How does Linkbox monitor links?

There are 2 main modules implemented in Linkbox to track backlinks: the campaign module and the crawler monitoring module. How to track links with the first one is described in detail on the page Check Links. Here we will look at the second.

1) Google Search Console. Monitoring backlinks in the console is very important because it displays only those that are accurately counted for the ranking of your site. You need to import data into this folder on a regular basis. To do this, just get an unload from the GSC:
2) Ahrefs. This section is designed to import data from a popular service. It is useful to monitor backlinks from this source in order to understand what your links are known to your competitors, as most experts use it for analysis. To import your data from Ahrefs just go to the “Backlinks” tab, select all and click on export in utf-16 format:
3) Temporary. This section serves as a kind of custom folder for any other services besides Ahrefs and Google console. For example here you may upload data from monitoring services like Semrush, Majestic, Serpstat etc.
FAQ

The data obtained by importing backlinks from crawlers is also used in the main campaign module and the anchorlist module. On the basis of this data in the presented modules is available filtering on the intersection with the crawlers.

Who will especially benefit from the Linkbox monitor?

We are confident that the monitoring service will be useful for all Linkbuilders without exception, but we would like to highlight some categories of users for whom it will be simply indispensable:

  • Experts on promotion in highly competitive niches. It’s no secret that in competitive niches, you have to keep a close eye on all the new backlinks that appear on your site. Because sooner or later unscrupulous competitors will try to prevent you from taking their place in the top and you need to be ready to instantly defend against this with monitoring and rejection.
  • PBN Building Experts. It will be very useful to monitor what part of your grid Ahrefs and therefore your competitors already know about.
  • Outreach Specialists. When each external link is quite expensive, you can’t help but monitor whether such links are getting into the console.

Some ideas for using crawler monitoring data:

  • Get and analyze natural links that you didn’t know about. To do this, just apply a filter: no crossovers with campaigns after importing all sources. And you’ll get quite a list of data to analyze. And some of them are not even indexed by the search engine. This is an excellent opportunity to significantly improve the link profile of the site in the eyes of Google, just using the addurilka.
  • Monitoring poor quality links. You will learn as soon as possible about any spammy backlinks and can add them to the file disavov.
  • Analysis of backlinks that are most likely to affect the position of their anchors. Used in conjunction with the anchor list with Search Console filtering enabled.

No SEO professional will leave the success of link promotion to chance. Linkbox will help you get full control over your link building and get that much needed extra edge over your competitors.

Adjust tracking links https://www.link-checker-pro.com/adjust-tracking-links/ Mon, 09 Nov 2020 10:05:02 +0000 https://www.link-checker-pro.com/?p=35 Here you will find a general overview and answers to frequently asked questions about Adjust tracking links.

Here you will find a general overview and answers to frequently asked questions about Adjust tracking links.

Adjust trackers are the backbone of campaign tracking. Use Adjust tracking links to:

  • Linking your app users to the appropriate app store
  • Determining the type of engagement (clicks or impressions)
  • Segmenting users by attribution source
  • Redirecting users based on device type

Your trackers can be present wherever there is mobile user engagement, such as where there are in-app ads, email messages, search results, social media posts, mobile sites, and more. The actual placement of tracking links depends on which channel you’re using.

These basic tracking links track attributions and can also be customized to reflect campaign information, send user data, redirect users based on device type, and perform other functions.

Note. Don’t know how to use tracking links? That’s okay! Feel free to contact support@adjust.com , and provide us with your top-level tracker and the details of your intended usage scenario.

Campaign Structure Options

You can use campaign structure parameters to find out which ad networks, campaigns, ad groups and creatives are engaging attributed users. Like UTM parameters for web links in the desktop environment, campaign structure parameters for Adjust’s tracking links help provide insight into where your mobile users are coming from.

When users interact with Adjust’s tracker, your affiliate network automatically populates the campaign structure parameters. If you prefer to provide this data yourself, you can manually code your own values into the tracking link.

Guidelines for formatting campaign structure parameters:

  • Always separate campaign parameters with an ampersand (&)
  • Use lower case letters only (e.g. campaign instead of Campaign or CAMPAIGN) – campaign structure parameters are case sensitive
  • Make sure all campaign structure parameters are written correctly (e.g. adgroup instead of adgroups or adgrouping)
  • Follow the sub-level hierarchy (e.g., campaign parameters cannot be added to a tracker at the adgroup level). Otherwise, the higher parameter will be ignored and only the lower tracker data will be populated.

Useful information:

  • Blank campaign structure parameters are displayed as unknown. If your tracking link does not include campaign structure parameters, the value unknown will be displayed for them in the Adjust control panel (and in all exported reports). To ensure that the data is accurately recorded at a particular sub-level, we recommend adjusting the values of each parameter in all of your feeds according to the same principle.
  • The tracker levels are constant. Once you create a tracker at the campaign level, it cannot be edited or renamed to become an ad group or creative level tracker.

Tip. Use additional Adjust options to customize user interaction with your tracker (for example, diplinks to direct users to your app or redirect them to a specific website).

In my opinion, ClickMeter is the best link tracking service available. That’s not to say it’s perfect, because its functionality could be improved. However, ClickMeter is reliable and easy to use. If you want to track conversions and integrate with your blog, ClickMeter is your best option.

I’ve been using ClickMeter for over five years. I also recommend ClickMeter to all my affiliate marketing friends.

Without a ban, it’s the best affiliate link tracking service out there. You can use it not only on your blog, but also on your social media pages as a link cutting service.

For affiliate systems and affiliate networks offering backlinks, ClickMeter allows you to track conversion data in one place. You no longer need to visit multiple affiliate systems to measure performance. In addition, for merchants who do not have tracking capabilities, you can provide a conversion pixel that will send conversion data to ClickMeter.

For more advanced users, ClickMeter supports sending custom data to their service along with a full-featured application programming interface (API). This allows me to track conversions from paid traffic so I can determine which track source is providing the best conversions and which link on my site is producing the most conversions.

Features include:

  • Detailed reporting – track clicks and conversions (including bot clicks).
  • Targeting by URL – send offers to a different destination by country, language, device and user type.
  • Split testing – see which merchant’s offer works better.
  • Limited promotions – redirect urgent offers after the promotion expires.
  • User data tracking – track data fields such as UTM parameters to better track conversion sources.
  • Custom Development – Full featured API for extending ClickMeter functionality and integrating with other services.

All of these features help improve conversions and increase your bottom line overall.

Of all the affiliate link tracking services listed here, ClickMeter is the most comprehensive and easy to use service.

ClickMagick is an alternative short link service that specializes in affiliate links. It does lack some of the features I would look for in a service (like an API), and I think the UI may be easier to use. It has some advanced tracking features that you can’t find anywhere else. It’s worth checking out ClickMagick to see if they meet your needs.

ClickMagick has features similar to ClickMeter, as well as some new features for the influencer affiliate marketer.

Unfortunately, however, using this service is not easy. In fact, there are many additional options that even the most advanced affiliates may not use.

Setting up a new marketer can be a daunting process and is not as user-friendly as it is with ClickMeter.

But if you’re looking for a unique feature, ClickMagick probably offers it!

Here are a few unique features you’ll find in ClickMagick:

  • Automatic Split Testing – Test which vendor’s offer works best and have ClickMagick automatically use the winner.
  • Cross-Device Tracking – Track clicks from multiple devices used by a single reader.
  • Trackback and Pixels Conversions – Track and report conversions.
  • Geographic Targeting – Display different destination URLs based on location.

The best Amazon affiliate plugin – AAWP https://www.link-checker-pro.com/the-best-amazon-affiliate-plugin-aawp/ Fri, 16 Oct 2020 09:54:36 +0000 https://www.link-checker-pro.com/?p=24 If you want to monetize through the Amazon Associates program, then AAWP is the WordPress plugin you should use.

If you want to monetize through the Amazon Associates program, then AAWP is the WordPress plugin you should use. It has the ability to not only link to Amazon products, but also to create summary boxes that are automatically updated with descriptions, images, and prices. You can also easily create product comparison pages.

If you’re an Amazon affiliate, you need something better than Pretty Links. Pretty Links really doesn’t fit the Amazon affiliate program. Basically, Pretty Links is just a link management system.

If you want to fully monetize with the Amazon Associate program, you need to automatically get Amazon’s product information, pricing and images. That’s why I recommend AAWP.

AAWP is a plugin for WordPress. Its core power is untrackable. In fact, the plugin has no built-in click tracking or conversions or reporting. AAWP’s strength lies in its ability to pull information directly from the Amazon site.

AAWP communicates with the Amazon API and automatically extracts this information:

  • Product Name
  • Product Description
  • Product image
  • Pricing

In addition, the plugin automatically processes all of this information on a daily basis. There is no need to go to your site and update prices when Amazon changes its price – which is a common occurrence for Amazon.

AAWP also has the following features:

  • Geotargeting – select the right Amazon Associates program based on the visitor’s location.
  • Highlight Amazon links – set up links to display an Amazon icon so your visitors know they can buy a product on the site.
  • Product Summary – Display a nicely formatted takeout that automatically displays the Amazon product, description, and prices. No need to update this information manually, which saves you time and effort.
  • Comparison Tables – Easily create comparison tables of products available on Amazon and highlight key features.
  • Auto Lists – automatically create lists of bestsellers and new releases to ensure that your blog includes the latest products.
  • Amazon “Buy Now” button. Set up a clear call to action so that your visitors are more likely to make a conversion.

All of these features increase Amazon’s conversion rate. This is especially important due to Amazon’s recent commission changes. Plus, you get all this for less than $50.

Lasso’s main feature is to create a product overview for your Amazon Associates program. It will automatically update prices on Amazon. There are two unique features of Lasso. You can quickly add new affiliate links to your blog by doing a text search in your content. Second, you get alerts on links that don’t work or are missing. Lasso’s main problem is its price and lack of features. I personally would like to see conversion tracking and additional support for services other than Amazon.

Lasso is a recent entry into the affiliate link management space. Lasso’s most powerful feature, created by my friend Andrew Fiebert , is its integration with the Amazon API.

Lasso is a WordPress plugin that works well with any affiliate program, not just Amazon.

Like AAWP, Lasso allows you to create beautiful summary boxes that display information about your Amazon product (or other affiliate).

Unfortunately, Lasso’s biggest limitation is tracking conversions. For me, this is a major obstacle. But many users aren’t bothered by it. Also, if you use Amazon, conversion tracking is not possible anyway.

Lasso lacks the functionality of comparison tables and automatic listings that AAWP has, but this plugin has some features that you can’t find anywhere else.

Lasso offers the following features:

  • Quickly add new affiliate links – find non-monetized links and keywords and add them without having to manually review each post.
  • Notifications on broken or missing links – replace outdated products with ones that will help you make money.
